Key Features:
-
Industry Standard Bonding: 3M High Performance Acrylic Adhesive 200MP is recognized as the industry standard for graphic attachment and general industrial joining, delivering exceptional shear strength to resist slippage and edge lifting.
-
Versatile Substrate Compatibility: Provides outstanding adhesion to metals and high surface energy (HSE) plastics including polycarbonate (PC), ABS, acrylic, and polyester (PET) .
-
High Temperature Performance: Withstands short-term exposure up to 400°F (204°C) and long-term exposure up to 300°F (149°C), making it suitable for demanding thermal environments.
-
Superior Environmental Resistance: Excellent resistance to solvents, humidity, water, weak acids/bases, and temperature cycling. Adhesion strength typically increases after exposure to humidity and elevated temperatures .
-
Precision Repositionability: Adhesive allows for temporary repositioning during initial placement on plastics, enabling accurate alignment and reducing costly rework .
Recommended Applications:
-
Long-term bonding of graphic nameplates and overlays (subsurface printed polycarbonate or polyester) to metals and high surface energy plastics 3
-
Bonding metal nameplates, serial and rating plates in aerospace, medical, and industrial equipment 8
-
Graphic overlays for membrane switches and bonding complete switches to equipment surfaces -0
-
High-speed processing of medical components, durable labels, and flexible circuits -3
-
Lamination to industrial foams for rotary die-cutting of small gaskets
Application Guidelines:
For optimal bond strength, surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and dried before application. Recommended cleaning solvents include heptane for oily surfaces or isopropyl alcohol for plastics. Use reagent-grade solvents, as common household alcohol often contains oils that can interfere with pressure-sensitive adhesive performance -3.
Apply pressure during lamination and final installation to ensure the adhesive makes direct contact with the substrate. Ideal application temperature range is 60°F to 100°F (15.6°C to 38°C). Application is not recommended below 50°F (10°C), as the adhesive becomes too firm to adhere readily -3.
Store sheets in original packaging under normal conditions of 60°F to 80°F (16°C to 27°C) and 40% to 60% relative humidity, out of direct sunlight -3.
